THE DEPARTMENT IS FINISHING THE LAST DETAILS FOR THE NINTH NATIONAL DRILL OF EMERGENCY RESPONSE ORGANIZED BY UNGRD
* The ninth drill will be held this Wednesday, October 2nd from 9:00 in the morning.
* The National Emergency Response Drill seeks to improve planning, coordination and communication between public, private and community entities, for the effective response to events generated by different threatening phenomena.
With the verification of the final details regarding the contingency plans for the evacuation of companies and entities, the Department and all the institutions that will participate, gave green light to carry out this activity on Wednesday, October 2nd of the National Emergency Response Drill organized by the National Unit for Risk and Disaster Management.
From 9:00 in the morning, officials of the Clarence Lynd Newball Memorial Hospital, Hotels, Andinas Engineering, DIAN, Educational Establishments, Air Force, National Navy, among other agencies will be part of the exercise that will recreate the effects caused by the passage of a hurricane in the Archipelago.
The National Emergency Response Drill seeks to improve planning, coordination and communication between public, private entities and community, for the effective response to events generated by different threatening phenomena.
"During this exercise, about 350 people will be working as brigades, firefighters, Red Cross, Civil Defense, among other institutions. We expect the evacuation of some twelve thousand people," said the Departmental Coordinator of the National Unit for Management of Risk and Disaster, Walden Downs.
Likewise, the commander of the San Andres Fire Department, Willie Gordon Bryan, manifested that thanks to the coordination, the island has the necessary experience in this type of activities, a fact that generates a high degree of confidence just in case a natural phenomenon occurred.
"This is a mandatory exercise for the whole country. In San Andres we have made three meetings with public and private sector entities, which will evacuate their buildings on October 2nd at 10:00 in the morning," said the Commander of the Fire Department in San Andres, Willie Gordon Bryan.
The Districts and Municipalities that participate may:
- Test the effectiveness of plans, strategies, protocols or procedures, for the emergency response that each sectors, territorial entities and organized communities may have.
- Strengthen the mechanisms of organization, coordination and communication between the different actors, operating in emergency situations.
- Evaluate communications, alert and alarm systems at the local level.
