ISLANDER FAIR TABLES, MAJOR PROTAGONISTS AT THE INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR

The island gastronomy has become the main protagonist at the XXXII version of the International Book Fair, held at the pavilion 'Colombia 200 years' of Corferias. Hand in hand with those responsible for the various fair tables arranged in different parts of the island, the team from the Secretariat of Tourism seeks to demonstrate that the Archipelago has a number of emotions that must be experienced by people around the world, In this case, gastronomy.

According to the secretary of Tourism, Yadira Olivo Florez, the participation of San Andres, which was given by invitation by the renowned and experienced Cartagena chef, Leonor Espinosa, has served to highlight more to the destination and attract other type of visitors to the island. She added that it has been one of the most visited stands by both personalities and attendees at the fair.

"We are making presence at the International Book Fair through our gastronomic samples and our delightful and beautiful fair tables. They are selling their typical dishes. We have rondon, crab soup, fish ball and all the food that characterizes us. We will be here until May 6 at this event. This was possible thanks to Leo Espinosa, Procolombia, Vice Minister of Tourism, who has promoted us a lot and the Departmental Government,"said Olivo Florez.

The official pointed out that this administration understood the need to promote San Andres through other means that highlight the richness of its culture, the magic of the islands and the charm of the people.

"The culinary and cultural topic is taking strength. In Holy Week, the typical and gastronomic samples had an important upturn and we will continue with this. We must promote the destination from the cultural, from the gastronomical, and from the natural. It is necessary to re-position San Andres as tourism of experience, content and nature. We have a biodiversity that the world does not know,"added the Secretary.

The participation of the fair table women at the International Book Fair took place through a contest carried out by the Secretary of Tourism, which grouped all the registered tables. The proposals chosen were those that met all the specifications required by Procolombia and the other participants. Thanks to their work and dedication, today they lead the flag of island culture in the capital of the country.

Finally, the secretary highlighted the importance of small island businessmen dedicated to tourism to be part of the portfolio and present their projects.

"Everything we do, we convene, so we invite the community to attend the meetings and trainings. We make calls for all the invitations we receive; we do not choose it by hand. You have to show and certify yourself. We have all the exams that accredit them as professional chefs," concluded Yadira Olivo Flrez.

The International Book Fair of Bogota, organized by the Colombian Chamber of Books and Corferias, this year it is taking place from April 24 to May 6. With more than 1.850 cultural, academic and professional events, all the actors of the book chain will present their editorial novelties to the visiting public.

The guest of honor in the thirty-second edition of the event is Colombia, for the celebration of the bicentennial.
