Secretary of Education invites the educational community to adopt respect throughout the Departmental Educational System

The Departmental Secretary of Education, Edelmira Archbold Hawkins, is inviting through this reflection message to adopt the respect as a behavioral rule in the Departmental education system."The respect, protection, promotion, and the exercise of the fundamental rights of our children and adolescents, are of primary interest to the Departmental Government, being the Secretariat of Education the main guarantor of such.

Therefore, the Departmental Administration Government, regrets and is alarmed for the alleged acts of child abuse reported in the local circulation newspaper, Archipelago Press, on Friday, February 1, 2013, with occurrence at the Junin Educational Institution by one of its teachers, ratified before the Office of the Secretary of Education, by the Family Commissioner of the neighboring municipality.

Therefore, the Departmental Secretariat of Education is informing the general community that the acts has been immediately forwarded to the Attorney´s office, entity pursuant to Order of June 13, 2007 is responsible for the care-related behaviors related to sexual and child abuse by teachers. Also, they will once again be developing workshops and discussions with the general staff that are linked to educational institutions of the Islands related to the formation from tenderness and good treatment, correction with authority and the imposition of corrective measures provided they have educational character, binding to the offense, and leading to the appropriation of socially desirable behaviors by students.
