In the framework of the International Day of Languages, the Secretariat of Culture opens spaces for the use of krioul.

For the second consecutive day, the Departmental Secretariat of Culture continues to develop the agenda designed to promote the use of krioul, the vernacular language of the Archipelago of San Andres and Providence.

The agenda began with the development of the national and international commemoration workshop of the mother tongues of ethno-education with an emphasis on Krioul, English, and Spanish.

On the second day, the emphasis was on writing in Kriol, English and Spanish, the similarity of the Jamaican Creole language and the ancestral language of San Andres Island.

The objective promoted by the workshop is to create a space with historians, teachers, both from San Andres and Providence as visitors and attendees to the event.

Professor Ruben Dario Rios, from Buenaventura, focused his presentation on the Ethno-education process in Colombia. The workshop also focused on the Patua, Bende and Krioul languages ​​in the Caribbean and Central America. The closing of the workshop was carried out with the screening of a film called "Entre Etnias" (Among Ethnic Groups).
