Government Extends Restriction of Expenditure and Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages
FOR 30 MORE DAYS, THE DEPARTMENTAL GOVERNMENT EXTENDS RESTRICTION OF EXPENDITURE AND CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES IN SECTORS OF THE ISLAND
· The restriction will start from June 1stto July 1st, 2019.
· Morris Landing, Tablitas, Cocal, Cliff, Modelo, New Guinny
New Guinny, Simpson Well, Barack, Natania and its sections, Matlina Hill and Perry Hill are sectors where the restriction is applied.
By means of Decree 0280 of May 31, 2019, the Governor in charge of the Department, Juan Francisco Herrera Leal, in use of his legal faculties, extended for 30 more days the restriction of sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages from 6:00 p.m. on Fridays until 6:00 a.m. on Mondays.
The Decree adds that it extends to Tuesdays until 6:00 a.m. when Monday is a holiday. This order will run until July 1, 2019 in the sectors of Morris Landing, Tablitas, Cocal, Cliff, Modelo, New Guinny,Simpson Well, Barack, Natania and its sections, Matlina Hill, and Perry Hill.
It should be noted that the stores that fails to comply with the order will be subject to the application of corrective action, ranging from temporary suspension, referred to in Numeral 4 of Article 92 of the National Police Code and Citizen Coexistence / Law 1801 of 2016
Likewise, the Departmental National Police will ensure compliance with the provisions set forth in this administrative act and will have the support of military forces within the framework of its competency.
Finally, due to the good behavior presented in Tom Hooker and Obrero neighborhood, this measure does not apply to these sectors. According to the secretary of Government, Romulo Areiza Taylor, these areas are example to follow and are inviting the community to keep their composure and to drink moderately.
"We are inviting the community to remain within Decree 1801 of 2016, which is the Police Code and Citizen Coexistence. I assure you that we will remove one by one or all sectors that are within the Prohibition. The idea is that we all behave and do not contribute to start fights, carryout physiological needs in public areas and parking on the streets. We need you to work together with the Departmental Administration and with the well-being of the entire Departmental Archipelago,"said the Government Secretary.
