SECRETARIAT FOR SPORTS AND RECREATION SUPPORTS FIRST EDITION OF THE 'WILLIAM CABEZA VIZCAINO' BASEBALL TOURNAMENT
· The activity, organized by the 'Loma Roots' Sports School in conjunction with the Secretariat of Sports and Recreation, seeks to provide comprehensive training and civic values while children learn about sport discipline.
As the start-up for more children on the island to enjoy sports and embrace a healthier lifestyle, designed for social development, the secretary of Sports and Recreation, Erlid Arroyo Newball described the first edition of the baseball tournament 'William Cabeza Vizcaíno,' an event that brought together more than 100 children in favor of physical activity.
The activity, organized by 'Loma Roots' Sports School, in conjunction with the Secretariat of Sports and Recreation, seeks to provide comprehensive training and civic values while children learn about sport discipline. According to the Secretary, the Departmental Administration works to provide this type of space throughout the entire Department.
"The idea is that this first stone be that beginning for many activities that we wish to develop on this field. First of all, we have already begun the approach to know the state of these properties and to make this sport come back to the communities and can really be practiced," said the Secretary of Sports, Erlid Arroyo Newball.
During the event, the official highlighted the great glories that the island has shown in the discipline, such as Oswaldo Archbold, among others, who were trained thanks to their perseverance and hard work. Similarly, Arroyo Newball hopes that the younger children will always have in mind that with effort and dedication you can get everything you want.
"We also want these children to have dreams and that they can be developed here. That they can be future professional baseball players and that hopefully it becomes a reality,"said the secretary.
Additionally, the official stressed that the organization is the key to the success of any activity.
"Today, we realize that there is a whole seedbed. There are more than 100 active children in this discipline and I am sure that many more children will arrive every day so this activity will be what ancestrally represented for the island community,"concluded the Secretary of Sports and Recreation.
Finally, Francisco Rativa, legal representative of 'Loma Roots' Sports School, thanked the institutional support to achieve what at the beginning was a dream and today becomes a reality.
"We created the 'Loma Roots' Sports School by bringing together many children from the Hill sector, eager to practice baseball. Our goal, more than to train them in this sport, is to offer a comprehensive training and citizen values as they grow, just as they taught me,"he said.
